Description

Start your 4th of July weekend off by participating in the live 2021 Yorktown Independence Day 8K, or the virtual Yorktown Independence Day 8K!

While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to alter our usual live events we're planning a COVID compliant live 8K event with some modifications.  In order to reduce crowds and maximize social distancing, this year we will keep the starting line open for an hour and a half and allow participants to choose their own 15 minute start window (8:00 AM, 8:15 AM and 8:30 AM).  Participants will arrive at the starting area within 15 minutes of their starting window, they'll be allowed to pick up their bib number and proceed to the start line.  Numbers at the start will be limited to less than 150 runners.  Participants will proceed to run the loop course 8K run.  At the finish line, they will pick up their race packet with their T-shirt and custom finisher medal.  There will be water supplied at the finish, but not on the race course (plan accordingly).  There will be no post race party this year.  There will also be no 5K option this year since the out and back course will not work under COVID restrictions.  If you're a 5K runnner/walker and worried about the extra distance, don't be.  It's less than two miles more, and the course is very scenic.  Take your time, and you will get through it.

If you're still not comfortable running live events, we've also got a virtual 8K run option that you may sign up for.  There is an additional fee for mailing of your race SWAG.

Directions to Start/Finish

From the parking area at York High School, proceed past the tennis courts along a path through the tree line to the start/finish area along the Historical Tour Road in the Colonial National Park.  Bib number pickup will be under a tent near the start.  There will be signs to direct you.
